New Material Industrial Area
   In 2002, the National Science Technology Ministry officially approved Zibo as a national base for transformation and industrialization of achievements in new materials. The Park has an area of approximately 240 hectares with scientific research institutions and large enterprises such as Shandong Silicate Research and Design Institute, Shandong Glass Group, Shandong Aluminum Company, Huaguang—Tsinghua Science Technology Park, and Zhongbo Company already in the Park. Its main production focus includes new materials such as new modified construction plastics and modified resin new materials, functional ceramics, structural ceramics, ultra white glass, and functional glass fiber. The quality standard and scientific technology content of the manufactured new electronic materials such as metallic gallium and gallium arsenide are all in the leading positions domestically.
